The Night Before
Wednesday, October 15th
Students and advisers traveling to Fort Collins the night before Journalism Day or anyone looking for additional JDay opportunities are invited to The Night Before. Sponsored by CHSPA and our professional counterpart, The Colorado Press Association, The Night Before gives students an opportunity to meet in a more informal setting with (and get feedback from) newspaper, yearbook and broadcast professionals to talk about any number of topics including:
- Photography
- Page Design
- Reporting
- Commentary
- Story budgets and news judgment
- Feature writing
- AND MORE!
Students are encouraged to bring examples of their work. The professional present will then spend time with individuals or small groups of students discussing the merits of the students' work, as well as ways in which to improve.
There also will be tables set up for moderated round-table discussions among student-editors, advisers, photographers and other groups.
The Night Before is designed for those students and advisers who may be traveling from far away and arriving in Fort Collins the day before Journalism Day, but it certainly isn't restricted to those attendees. Anyone can attend, provided they've already registered for Journalism Day.
If you plan to attend The Night Before, simply indicate so on the regular Journalism Day at CSU registration form.
